When is up-lighting NOT recommended or used with caution?
In 90% of rooms, it’s amazing. There are a few exceptions though. One would be dark-colored walls. Black absorbs light, with no reflection like white walls. So dark browns, blacks, rooms with tons of draperies, will have less of effect, unless you have light-colored aspects or enhancements to the walls. Hard-scaped walls like Brick walls, dark woods (like in a barn loft), windows, all will either not have the enhancement effect or actually change the color. Yes, we can alter the color to closely resemble the colors you have chosen, but the variances in this type of wall, can alter the effect. Some love the varied output, some don’t.
